Brian Barkworth
English born from Yorkshire and Brian came to Australia when he was 17. He became interested in horology and started collecting clocks in middle age teaching art at High School and lecturing in Art and Design.
He found clocks a wonderful combination of art, design, history and engineering.
His main interest was English clocks with a particular passion for lantern clocks.
On retirement at 55, he started working on clocks and bought all of John Wilding's books as a Christmas present to himself. He attended the clock restoration course at West Dean, in the UK, for part of 1997-8.
During this time I met many of the inspirational and often wonderfully eccentric horological academics and many of the experts who write for Clocks.
He is now kept busy repairing/restoring a wide variety of clocks and has developed an interest in writing about them.
