Clock fault finder 3

Checking the escapement

With all timepiece and striking pendulum clocks check the movement is wound-up and the clock is in beat, that the length of the 'tick' is equal to that of the 'tock'. Ensure the pendulum is correctly located in the crutch and that the suspension is operating properly.

Pendulum clocks will not run if out of beat, or the pendulum/suspension is faulty in any way. The pendulum rod must not bind or be too loose between the forks of the crutch.
