 Product review
For a clock to run efficiently it must be set 'in beat'. This entails listening most carefully to the sound of the escapement and the action of the escape wheel as it passes through the pallets. When the movements are housed in their cases it can sometimes be difficult to hear the beat very clearly.

With this in mind Meadows & Passmore have introduced the Amplitic, a small amplifier which amplifies the sound of the escapement

The sensor can be attached to any part of the movement (sometimes even the case) and the sound of the escapement is amplified through two earphones. In effect the Amplitic becomes a clockmaker's stethoscope! For workshop use the Amplitic can be connected to a computer or amplifier and speakers. The Amplitic can be used on all types of mechanical clock including conventional spring and weight driven clocks, 400-day clocks and most mechanical watches.
